Life at SRM

Hi all!
Life at SRM ( www.srmuniv.ac.in )... Well, my joining in SRM is one of the funniest decisions in my life time ever!
I was just impressed with the website they had! So I joined! Sports quota... There was an 'eh' and 'oh' and everything was done! Not much of a headache...
Early days for me in SRM were much similar to my days (most of my days) in Velammal (YES, I STUDIED THERE!)... Going and coming ; sitting with a book; seeing every time what's in it!
Then came the fascinating OD (On Duty) phenomenon! First semester, I attended college for about 30 days - tat's it! I DID NOT know the 'internal' mark thing and that's the most annoying thing a sports person can ever ask for! So... No internals (rather, I did not know what happened!) - I wrote the semester exams... I don't even remember what I wrote; what papers I had; in fact, I don't even know how I passed! Second third fourth... Well, nothing special! All the same, I passed only in the end semester exams!
People like me (I hope other sports people agree) come to SRM not for the academics part but the life here in this campus! It's amazing - the responsibilities, the freedom, the ambience, the people... it's the 'extra' things that make SRM so special!
For one, I have not seen a college with 'n' number of canteens! ( I think there area about 8, not sure!)
Yes, the teachers, all of them, have a 'professor' look! They DO NOT care much! :) no offenders I hope! :) Also, they don't give u enough internals - who cares?
For a person who is coming from Velammal school, SRM is supposed to look like heaven (for obvious reasons! - if u don't know, better go to Velammal and SRM and find out!)
Being a University student takes a lot of responsibility from u - u got to study in a UNIVERSITY to find that out... I used to joke - "In school, we have to get one signature for all subjects; here one sign does not have ANY value; two signatures for one subject teacher!" Also, in first year, every subject different department! So, I lost count!
Thanks to SRM, I am a much stronger person now ; and so are all who LIVE in SRM!
In spite of all the difficulties, life in SRM is worth living! U get a 'feel' that u can face the world! U can face anything after u pass out (If at all u finish ur degree!)...
Lots of College tours, culturals (ya, unlimited; so much that u confuse between a tech fest and culturals), stupid exams - surprise tests (have u heard any stuff like that in other colleges???), cycle tests (yeah, no uniforms in college, but still the same crappy shit we did in school); MODEL exams (ya, just to show that they exist in college also); ASSIGNMENTS (we don't write two times ; five times here, but we write once, so many things!)... uh! Yeah, I understand!!!
U got to be a true SRMite to enjoy all these!
Or, a true sports person to be 'above' all these!
I am happy that I am both!
'LIVING' in SRM... in more ways than one! Thank God for the life... such a wonderful one and that!

SRMites rock!

Until next time, cheers! Keep smiling!

"Miles to go before I sleep!"
