Rayil payanangalil

Some of our most memorable events occur during chance happenings. Prior to 30s I always used to prefer buses even for long journeys - I have covered Mumbai to Chennai by bus during student days. Of late however, due to covid largely I have reduced travels. Recently, I decided to try out a train journey and it turned out to be quite fascinating.

It was an intra-state travel for about 8 hours and I experimented with a Shatabdi (well, there's a lot of buzz about Shatabdi, Vande Bharat and the likes, so why not give it a shot when the opportunity comes!) for the return journey to Chennai. I booked the Executive coach though it wasn't really required - I was pretty much gathering proof for what I heard. (Pro-tip: Stay in touch with 2k kids - they are well-versed with latest happenings than you think! Before booking the tickets, I had a casual conversation with my office colleague who turns out to be a 2k kid. When I mentioned the word 'Shatabdi' his eyes lit up - he went on and on about how good the FOOD in the train is and the way soup and tea are served in cutlery! SOLD!)

Prior to boarding, I was expecting something like, for lack of a better expression, flight-like seating. But I was wrong. The moment I entered, I realized the seats were wayyy more comfortable than flights. Thanks to state / central government or whoever is maintaining these trains! Being an evening to night journey, the passengers were served snacks and coffee first. More than the food, it's the experience that matters - you actually FEEL like sitting in a restaurant that moves! And what's more - I was in the window seat with great views of the countryside.

And in the wink of an eye,
Painted stations whistle by...

You do not get this experience in flights - a combination of good views + good food (I am not saying food on flights is bad - it doesn't need to be told). Okay, the coffee wasn't great, but the snack was good. There was also a sweet which was quite delicious. After gulping the goods, I was slowly losing myself to the beautiful views on the right side provided by the window seat.

To my left, the seat was empty. In the seats behind me, there was a couple, likely senior citizens, and the lady was watching mega-serials with headphones (I respect people who wear headphones, because these citizens do not disturb the general public!). To my front, there was a couple with a small boy who was rather quiet and ahead of them were the middle seats. The middle area in the compartment had four seats where people can sit facing each other and the seats are separated by a table (like a typical 4 seater table in restaurants) - I do not know who designed this but this makes lives interesting. There were five ladies, aged between 40-60 (these are my guesses) seated in these 4 seats - they were beginning to play Cards! And I am reasonably confident that these four got to know each other only during the journey NOT before! They started with a game which everyone knew (probably Rummy) and got bored after a while. Then, the senior lady who looked like she's from Kerala, gave them KT about a new game (I don't know the name) which they started playing. It is hard to guess whether it was the game or their nature in general, but as the game progressed, their voices became really really loud - there was a time when I began to dislike the journey.

Soup was served, which lifted my mood for a while. I must say the soup was brilliant, and yes, it was served in good cutlery. It was a Knorr soup packet which had to be mixed with hot water and consumed. Probably it was the AC, or the view, or the ambience overall, hard to say, but this soup at that moment was bliss. There's a distinct feeling of luxury about traveling in Shatabdi which is hard to describe in words. On seeing the lush green grass and mountains in fading sunlight, your heart feels lighter. The point where sunlight passes through the train's glass window and falls on you inside an AC compartment while travelling around 80-90 KMPH... a level of warmth that multiple attempts at adjusting your room's AC temperature at night armed with bedsheets cannot equal. For a city-dweller like me, this was quite refreshing! I added some salt to the soup.

But you see, not everyone consumes soup. The cards gang continued their entertainment with progressively increasing decibel levels through the evening without taking any breaks. I was expecting some member in the compartment to lose his/her patience and shout at them but no, nothing of that sort happened. Suddenly, one uncle seated near them looked like he was going to talk to the crowd and he did. But guess what, it was a normal conversation - no complaints! The Kerala lady moved back to her seat after a while, the now four-member gang continued to play, unhindered by the exit of one player. The chatter continued without any loss of volume. I thought of telling them to lower the noise, but couldn't gather enough courage to do so. Besides, I do not like to spoil anyone's party so I let it go.

There's always a silver lining - it was time for dinner and the next set of delicacies arrived... Piping hot rotis with curry, rice and dal, all served in a perfectly packed manner. I have travelled in AC compartments in the past, but this level of quality was something I was not used to! The pure sight of the dinner in front of me reduced the volume of the ladies - there is something about food that alters your senses and focus areas! With noise fading in the background, I treated myself to the Rotis first, followed by Dal with rice. And yes, there was Curd, thick! When I thought this was all, we were finally served ice-creams! Long live Shatabdi.

Post dinner, we were fairly close to Chennai Central. This was the time the Cards games were finally beginning to end. Once they ended, the conversations should have also ended but no - they continued talking about life in general and started exchanging phone numbers. The nearby uncle also started giving his views about life and YOLO! True, that.

Back to Chennai, office, traffic.

One big learning for me from this trip is to travel more in trains whenever the opportunity arises!

Until next time, Incredible India!

Morning scenes at the airport

This happened in February 2017.
It was one of those days when I had to catch an early morning flight (Read: Indigo) to Mumbai from Chennai on a business trip. Needless to say, it is hard to pay attention at such times, well I woke up early at midnight to reach the airport. Due to some reasons unknown to me, I suddenly became wide awake. "Let me try and look around", I told myself. The result was an enriching experience!
The scenes are hard to describe, however, I will make an attempt.

- The rush was pretty much IN. At least 80% of the population were hooked to their mobile phones and walking fast to the destination. Whether the flight will take off as soon as they reach their gates is something only they can answer.
- A contemporary woman in saree calmly walking towards security check, with what looked like an iPhone on her left hand and a branded handbag on the right. One could guess that she is quite successful in her field, going by the sophisticated appearance
- Paatis (Accomplished grandmothers of Tamil Nadu) with their extended family finding a way through the queue before the entrance, Tam Brahm uncles carrying color printouts of the tickets and speaking in English and Tamil intermittently about their young ones in the Bay Area. Their veshti + viboothi combination deserves a special mention! Somehow a good-looking Sardar was in-between this Hum Aapke Hain Kaun family, appearing totally lost.
- Not all white and whites are nice. There is always a white and white guy who is a nadamaadum nagai kadai (Walking jewellery shop), whom I will not make jokes about for obvious reasons.
- You can never miss the random foreign tourists with that native language-speaking 'dude' who acts as an ISO certified guide, knowing everything about Tamil Nadu, more than Google.
- The random girl (who might fit as a candidate in Roadies) with T Shirt + Jeans + Overcoat combination whom some people always hope will sit next to them but will always end up in the next row
- The bald businessman with a frowning face answering heated calls on his Blackberry, the smiling business traveller in suits who smiles at everything (just like yours truly)

- To top it all, the big Indian Flag showing us all how we are possibly the only nation that is made of differences rather than similarities!

From that day onwards, I have paid more attention to things around me. Life, as it is, offers us a lot of joy - it is an intoxicating experience!

The next time you are boarding an early morning Indigo, stay awake at the airport!

Until next time,
Have fun!

An eye-opening lesson on sub-cultures!

"Traveling. It leaves you speechless, then turns you into a story-teller" - Ibn Battuta

One such official visit made me stumble upon a totally different culture that existed in a small part of a large organization, and how! Of course, I had come across traces of this culture in my IT days, but seeing it in real is a different experience!

Road-less travelled!

Every MBA student, at least from premier B-schools, has times when he feels he needs to discover himself. Be it his plans about what job to take, or more generally what to do with his life! For me, well, I just felt I needed a break from routine and wanted to unearth something that was missing or was present earlier that didn't come up of late! Of course, your favourite professor teaching Emotional Intelligence has some part to do in this (For those who don't get this last line, EI is a wonderful subject, by far one of the top 5 in my MBA life)

Of course, everything needs a little bit of inspiration. When one of your close friends undertakes a solo trip to Goa, you definitely get inspired. More so if she motivates you to do the same. And of course, with some pushing by others too, I overcame by initial hesitation and booked tickets to Lonavala (thanks to IRCTC it works well even at 2 AM these days!). At the last moment, one push came from my classmate, he said "Go go, if not now, then when!" That moment... sealed the deal.
"You need your support groups without which, life will still be fun but not so constructive!"

Grab something to eat. It is going be a long post!

___ing the spouse-finding: A strategic viewpoint (Part 1)

"Wow what a cute couple!!!"
"Made for each other"
"Awesome" [ with 'N' number of hashtags ]
If you are one of those people admiring facebook posts like that one and wishing fervently that it happens to you some day in the near future, I am here to throw some cold water on your face. And for those people who are double (my favourite term for those who are not single) right now, I don't give a damn. Love, dating, relationships... are way too overrated in this digital world. And social networking websites, Whatsapp, Snapchat and other communication monsters have convincingly sold this point to the larger population that it's the 'in' thing to find that special some one during college days or school days for posterity.

These buildups (a South Indian slang word which means building a mountain out of a mole hill) are usually followed up with some home-cooked stories about arranged marriage, all of them showing arranged marriages in bad light. Now that I am nearing 'that' age inevitably and interacting to some extent on those lines, the time has come to give some enlightenment to the world.
Now that the context is set, get ready for some gyaan!

Home, People!

After a long time, I made it a point to visit my hometown. Going home is one thing, going to hometown is something else. அது வேறு இது வேறு! You can go and settle down in some city or the other; build a house there, rent, beg, borrow, steal, stay... but hometown is something different! You feel you 'belong' there.
Chennai is big, cool and awesome; but it's not home!

Some things never change!

I am in Mumbai now for MBA. That meant a lot of changes - no Marina beach, no Chennai Tamil, no Tamil, more Hindi (as if SRM wasn't enough!), more celebrations (Dussehra, Ganesh Chaturthi et al.) and some irregular mindless food and sleep habits.

Mumbai is fast guys, I can tell this for sure - it's full of people and there's no idea why they are running so fast with their lives.
'If everyone is running so fast, why there's a lot of traffic jams?
Or is it because they are so fast?' I do not know.

IT's so gOOd!

p.s. This post is for college freshers only!

Hello Everyone!
Of late, I haven't been so active here! I will give some reasons for it, that's what every one does when he/she (damn you, CAT Grammar!) fails to do something
Getting admission into a premier B-School in India is not so easy. It takes a lot out of you, especially the weekend holidays, Yes, been there. Done that, or not done that, in this case. A weekend in an IT company is a blessing in itself, after all that slogging during the week. But then, I had to go through volumes of English and Math sitting at home or TIME class, all for getting into a top B-school. It's all worth it I guess, after you do get into one!

And that means I will invariably have to leave my current job in this India's most admired company. True. I will miss this. People will say all sorts of things about IT industry, I have not heard them :) I can only share what I have gone through! I don't believe in rumours. You shall not read further if IT field is in no way related to your life, but you may read on just for fun :P

1. I didn't enjoy bench!
It's just a whole waste of time. Reporting every day to the Resource Management Group and not learning anything at all. That too, catching a bus in the hot sun... enough said.
If at all you land up here for more than 60 days, prepare for CAT / GRE / GMAT. The situation is tailor made for this.

Anyway, I was in bench for just 45 days. Then, project!

2. Get into Development!
Let's face it. Developers enjoy the most. Not because it gives lot of onsite opportunities or more challenging; but because you get to work in general shift. You will have life after office! You can travel one hour to home. Sleep well. Just the best life you can get as a fresher in the industry.
Having said that, getting into testing or maintenance or prod support is not the end of the world. Get a house nearby to office and work for 10 hours or night shifts or second shifts.
"Life is all about adjustments - divide and rule!"
Do coding!

3. Life's fantastic in IT
If some one tells you IT is boring, don't believe them. What isn't boring in life anyway?
Performance in the beginning matters. Then you can get things in control. 9 to 6 job in one week, 8 to 5 in the next, 10 or 11 to 8... mix it up. Don't do the same things. It's up to us to make it lively, don't blame the system like you-know-who!
Don't bunk Fridays - they are the best days in office. Some people make the best use of it to make life entertaining for us ;)
Get some nice team-mates.

4. Appraisal season - become a theist
You can dig the rivers and drain the ponds, but you cannot get a good appraisal rating or band or bucket or whatever metric your company follows. Employees hate it; employers hate it. But it exists. Don't facebook it, face fact. Just pray.

If satisfaction = true
     stay
Else
     leave
End If

Yes, I worked in Visual Basic .NET!

5. Training period - College life upgraded!
Of course you learn a lot. But this is the best period you can get. At least in a few CMM Level 5 companies. After training, you get a lot of responsibilities, but here you are treated just like a student so it's just fAWESOME!
You get to meet schoolmates and collegemates all in one place. Well, IT companies are well populated and India is over populated. Surely you will bump into people.

6. KT
Abbreviates to Knowledge Transfer. It blesseth him that gives and her that takes!
Be all ears. "Thozil kathukonga!"
Okay, tell me more!

7. Get allocation
If you are not allocated, fight for allocation. If nothing happening, leave the project. Don't sit and work for free.

8. Follow your company timings
Work for 9 hours only (or whatever hours your company pays you for). Not a little more, not a little less.
"Companies are good, rules are good,
it's the people that make them good or bad"
We were fortunate to get a wonderful trainer in our training period. He said these words which I will remember for a long long time "Who gave you permission to sit after work hours?"
Indeed! Coming on time to work is important, leaving on time is even more important. Don't bend your work hours like Beckham, and tweet about your organization.
Have fun!

9. Use company transport if applicable to you
This is where you meet people who can, well, you know... Just go for it. Could be life-changing!

10. Live SEVEN days a week!
I say it again. One week has seven days, not two.

Sorry about the huge dose of textbook stuff. Yeah, I heard a lot of noise, so this was my time to make some! You say something about IT once more, I am here for you!

Until next time,
Happy Summer!

SASTRA - Surely a place to be!

(A post which should have come a few years ago; left it here.
Counselling season will being soon - thought you guys might use this for reference!
"Social Service! Enjoy! Apologies for chronological errors. Rewind two years and read!)

The name says it all! I went to SASTRA University this year for the Colosseum'11 and I got to say 'Sastra rocks!' Being a student of SRM, we are so used to stuff like Fast foods, EMOs, Java Greens, freedom among other more obvious stuff. But Sastra is completely different. Being a Tamilian myself, I have longed to see 'tamil people' and eat 'tamil food' for a really long time now. Chennai DOES NOT represent Tamil Nadu these days. I hope many friends will agree with this view! Coming to the main thing, what makes Sastra tick?

Jillu nu oru sandhippu!

ஹாய் !

I often say this! When ever I travel down south of my state, I always get this ‘feeling of belonging’!
Recently I went to தஞ்சாவூர் (Tanjore) with my CSE A (and E) classmates for a wedding. Mr.A___ (yeah, "Mr." from now onwards; well and truly!) tied ‘the knot’ on February 14 – no no, it was an arranged marriage!
The function was fun in the sense that we classmates all got to meet once again - possibly the beginning of many similar events! Also had a chance to catch a glimpse of the “Big” temple in the centre of the city amidst heavy rain! Yeah real rain, not like the ones in Madrasapattinam.
What is always impressive to my monitor-looking, bus-sleeping eyes is the unhurried pace of lives in the not-so glamourous towns of the south.

True, Tanjore is not yet ready, it just looks foot-in-mouth for the oddly placed Maruti Swifts, Taveras and SX4s – the roads are too tiny to accommodate the huge cars. Strangely, there are a surplus number of buses on roads – the buses are mostly half-filled or empty. The vehicles never cross 3rd gear and I am sure of this – when our car went above 3rd and 4th, it was chased by dogs! Proof enough, the animals were not used to such speeds! And then there is the more-than-convincing pleasant-looking ‘Vegetarian’ restaurants; something that I am personally very happy about! Being a veggie and finding a good place to eat in any street is always a good thing!

நாங்கள் கல்யாணம் கண்டு களித்து விட்டு பெரிய கோவில் சென்றோம். Nature started blessing us with water-drops, progressively becoming heavier.
"என்ன டா பசங்களா! என்ன feeling-U?" (வாய்ஸ் from heaven)
We were running a little behind schedule. We had to reach Chennai on 14th night to catch up for office the next day. You see, 'Leaves' are worth more than gold in the Corporate world. They will be available but you cannot use them.
"Lay-offs are easy;
day-offs aren't so!"

We weren't prepared to leave without visiting the shrine! And we did just that.

Most of us were thinking what to do in the next 5 years or so with our lives... It wasn't easy. Some of us had jobs, some of us didn't, some wanted, some didn't; it's harder than semester exams to decide...
On the way back to our hotel rooms, we got the 'privilege' of getting this guy's auto.
ஸோ far ஸோ குட்!
And திஸ் is what happened... (we were three of us in the auto, with the driver in front)
Autoguy (AG): "எந்த ஊர் தம்பிங்களா?"
"சென்னை "
"படிக்கறீங்களா ?"
"வேலை ல இருக்கோம் "
(2 minutes silence)
AG: "இன்னிக்கு பெப்ரவரி 14. தனியா வந்து இருக்கீங்க?" (chuckles. He looked to be around 60-70)
"who is this guy???")
He continued...
"எல்லாரும் நைட் தான் தண்ணி போடுவாங்க! நான் காலை ல கூட போடுவேன்! full  தண்ணி தான்! எப்பவுமே தண்ணி ல தான் இருப்பேன்!"
 (Dude! Watch the road!)
My friend intervened... "அண்ணே! steady ஆ  தானே ஓட்றீங்க , அப்றோம் என்ன!"
"அதெல்லாம் ஓடும் பா! அவ்ளோ ஏன் இந்த ஆட்டோக்கு RC book, registration கூட கிடையாது!  "
(That's ok!)

"எனக்கு லைசென்ஸ் um இல்லை! "

(what??? I started to analyze... No license, no RC, no insurance, PLUS watered! Will I reach home alive? Forget home, atleast our hotel room??? It was raining; clouds dim; vehicles whizzing past... it all seemed so 'perfect'! :D)
"போலீஸ் கேக்க மாட்டாங்களா?"
"யார் தம்பி இதெல்லாம் கேக்கறா! இது என்ன சென்னை யா???" (smiles, all along!)
-----
After we got down, he asked "5 ரூபா எக்ஸ்ட்ரா தாங்க பா!"
Yeah, right! Value addition for our lives! :)
This man doesn't really portray my sense of belonging, but definitely, the 'takeaway' from this,
"Life goes on"

 இப்படிப் பட்ட மனிதர்களும் வாழ்கின்றனர் ! போராடு! "தொங்காதே"!

Yeah, that was heavy!

வாழ்க வளமுடன்!
"Proud to be a தமிழன்!"

The Chennai guy - PART 2

"Why is the room always airless?" I thought... I opened my eyes, and went back to sleep. The next day he woke up at 7 and the day had 2 rounds. The two great people meet in the evening again.

When the Chennai guy went to Vellore! (PART 1)

Sports persons have a very strong ego. City people have it too. They never say it out, but they all have it all the same!
Being chess players (this is the only field I know), we acquire by the habitual actions of the so-called "elite" company we get, some interesting peculiar character traits which can only be seen among chess circles.

Semester 8 Aftermath

Hi all!
Wishing you a Happy New Year 2012!
This is my first post this year, I guess, so, there's no harm in wishing late! Better late than never, they say! :)
And to all those who are not from SRM and other elderly people, I have finished my last semester exams. You can call me 'Engineer' now...! Just project work remains. But for that, I am almost done. Well, ALMOST!

These are really tricky times, REALLY bizarre periods! Life goes so smooth till you suddenly end up with these bloated times which are in such stark contrast with the times you were experiencing for the past three-and-a-half years or so.
Placements - done!
Exams - done!
Project - will be done!
Higher studies - not yet decided! This is not the time to decide. Let results come!
Farewell - done!
What else is left in our college life?
I am not reviling the finishing of semester 8 exams. People just get confused what to do!
I asked my friend... "What are you going to do this month?" He said, "I can play games! Mother can't stop me from anything now! No one can question me!" "Fair enough" I thought. Can't blame him. Lamentations of a beautiful mind!

I can't do that, I am not him. I inquired another one. "There's no way I am studying more! B.Tech was just possible; can't do more!" Yeah Yeah... Of course! It was tough! Can't damn him either. Well done mate!

Life's not that tough for SRMites who got placed in Accenture. They have some odd four-lettered program (HSIP / HSFP I am not sure, who cares?) starting soon. "The American mindset cannot change! They never paid a penny for conducting classes in SRM!"

I asked a girl this time. She said "I don't know. I am placed. But not sure if I will join..." Well well, they can SIT at home. That's an additional option they have. They don't get the bread after all! They have all the time in the world. The queer difference is that, this is an OPTION for them. For boys, this isn't! (I know I know...)

Some people have already applied and achieved MS seats. Fortunate people, they can take rest for some four months without the slightest feeling of guilt! They deserve it after all!

Some wrote CAT, only to see CAT pounce on them like the shrill TIGER! They are still there! Bad rememberings for some!

Whatever it is, some people cannot study Computer Science any more (This may include me... sometime)! Still, we become anaemic you see! It's hard to put time to good use at all times!
Most of the time, we sit in front of the computer with austere faces thinking what to do. Mostly facebook, gmail, FIFA, that's all! We easily become loungers in the afternoons! Text someone, no replies. So... sleep! Wake up in the evenings, tea or coffee or Milo. Come back to computer again. Sleep. Dinner. Sleep. Oh yeah 24 hours... See you tomorrow!

One odd morning, a friend calls and wants a get-together. Why not? That's the only exception to the routine we may get! And after that, the tape recorder plays again!

Don't think; feel, says Bruce Lee. True, just enjoy the moment! Don't think too much. Sing a song, watch a movie, play hard. After all, we pushed a mountain for four years in a row. I repeat, IN A ROW!

Long live engineers!
"One small extension after our names;
A giant leap for our lives!!!"

Coimbatore - The Complete Place!

I wish all my Chennai readers a happy monsoon! :)
I had the chance, rather, an opportunity to visit Coimbatore for a period of two days this summer and I got to say I am lucky to have done that. I really understood why CBE (Coimbatore) remains special to me.
Here are a few things that will attract you instantly if you are a Chennaiite (presently and also agmark)!
1. BUSES!
You will be surprised at the ticket fares. I travelled some 11 stops for 2 rupees! Also, the appearance of the tickets is totally different. Back here, it is written in rupees. In CBE, it's written 300 காசு,

PLACEMENTS, INTERVIEWS et al.

A Very Warm Welcome to all Readers :) !

When 4th year comes, there comes this thing called 'placements'! Ah yeah, 'engineering' students and those who have some knowledge about colleges know what I am talking about!
Some people are so visionary - they browse for which college offers better placements even before entering that college for the FIRST year! Yeah, I repeat - FIRST year!
All that is said and done. Let's talk about this 'placement' thing now. I think I can talk about it since I am nearing my FOURTH year. Well... please don't laugh. It happens automatically. You sit and fart in an engineering college, you come to fourth year. It's not a big deal folks! You will hear many names - Wipro, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Cognizant (CTS), Infosys, Accenture (yeah, recently added)... the list is endless. One thing is for sure - they won't take you easily! They give you a great hype as if they are going to make u a millionaire or as if they are going to make u the President of India ( I am not sure if they would have faced tests like this either!). After overcoming all the 'tests', you will be paid a salary that is much less your worth mostly!
Some of the tests:
1) Interview - Hearing this name, many people will piss their pants. I don't get this at all! Seems they will ask questions like "Do you have any questions?" (this question usually is the finishing question) and you are supposed to ask something. (after all that flurry of questions!) You can't say 'Can I leave? Are u taking me or not?' I guess proposing a girl was easier.
2) Group Discussion - You fools! Can't I have my own group? Why would I discuss something with strangers? And for heaven's sake, who are you to monitor our discussions??? And another thing... You hire us and then see if we fit in the group or not. If you are not confident of your own selection skills, why do u mess with us? Alright, give me a few hot girls in the group and I will discuss... :)
3) Aptitude test - We are in FOURTH year. Does it count?
4) Technical questions - Ask our professors. If they know the answers, surely we will know! They taught us for 48 damn months! We know nothing! :)
5) HR interview - Hello dude! How are you? Seems this is not enough for that fatso! We need more I guess! We have to flirt him for atleast 20 minutes. If he is pleased, he'll select us! :)
6) Tell me you ingenious people... When will I enjoy with the money I got? At the age of 58??? (I hope you all get this point! If you are not getting it, read all my previous blog posts!)
------
A few weeks ago, one multi-national company (I think TCS) came to our college and gave some boring lecture. One particular line is still ringing in my mind "You will be spending more time with our company than with your parents..." Well... Why the hell am I working then? They also added "We will be selecting the best people here. Prepare well... bla bla...". Alright people! Only then you can make us to continue doing that! I also heard that they keep exams in the first six months even after getting placed (not in TCS, but some other company, May be here also, not sure). Now for this alone, I think I won't go! Rather, I need some one to copy during exams. But copying in IT companies doesn't sound good at all!
------
Some more stuff: There will only be 10 days casual leave. 10 days medical leave. I don't get it! Should I enjoy only 10 days in a year? There are 12 months I guess, in a year, if my common knowledge is right. Leave that. How on earth do you know I will be sick only for 10 days? Even if there's some relaxation, that's far from being humanitarian!
I hate the word 'boss'! Good morning Sir, Good evening Sir... Fuck manners!!! (Thanks Negi, Ashwin!)
-------
I am not saying 'Don't attend placements!' or 'Go jobless' or 'Act like a maniac!'. I am just saying 'Use your common sense!'
There are so many other things too. I don't want to mention those since they are not much fun either.
My dear friends who are reading this... Think just once. Do you deserve this placement or do you deserve more? Do what your heart says! We live just once. How long will you compromise? How long will you be satisfied with a second-grade thing? If you just 'feel' the right thing, do it!
It's not about liking what you do. You got to do what you like. The first option is chosen by common people!
"Don't think. Feel!"

Sometimes in life, you have to 'exit' something to see another 'entrance'!
Will you compromise on your girlfriend / boyfriend? Think... er... feel! Yeah, that's the way to go!

I would like to finish this off with an inspiring quote from my friend...

'I don't deserve Infosys. I deserve something special!'

Abiyum Naanum!

அபிராஆமி அபிராஆமி...! This week being dedicated to women, I really want to give something to a woman who is so special to me...
This is dedicated to you!

You made me smile,
You made me laugh,
You can make me cry too,
I love you all the same;
You are such a good girl!

I saw your first cry,
I made your first laugh,
You are still the same,
You have not changed much for
You are such a good girl!

You are simply great sometimes I wonder,
You can really take on the world one day!
What am I doing for you I ponder,
You know I am really growing old by day!
I have fought a lot - forgive me for
I know I would have hurt you!
I know you will do it too, as
You are such a good girl!

You have held me all along, like a support for a creeper,
   And I could achieve many, without much of a weep;
Please continue to do so, as long as I live!
You made me realize when I was wrong
Hit me on the head with a nice song
Lo, No one can replace you - you are the best I got!

I saw the world before you did - I hope
I made it a little happier for you!
I could do better if I get another chance
I am not so sure still
If I could be the best... but certainly
You are the best I got and
I do not ask for more, surely
You are such a nice girl!

You walked like you were already ready for the millennium
You played like you had done it all before
You smiled like you discovered it
Your tears made mine meet yours
You studied like the nerds
   You yelled like my teachers
Your anger made me shiver
   Your voice... I can't describe!
It was all so perfect He knew
You will be such a nice girl!

So long so many years I learned many
They are priceless I can't thank you enough
You will live with me for a few more years before
Your man will take you - so fortunate he is!
When you go with him remember me
A soul that really loved you!

Some day you will read this I hope...
They say men are mortal... Internet isn't I guess...
This will always be here... Long after I leave!
Keep smiling dear!
Thanks for BEING YOU!

"So happy for ever
 To be your brother!"

The Gender Paradox!

I was in a bus when I could not help but over-hear this loud talk.
Girl: "Do you know this fool named Kumar?"
Boy: (Kumar was probably one of their common friends in school or something) Yeah, I remember him. Not in contact though.
Girl: That's great. He ... ----------------
(the conversation goes on)

I was wondering just one thing. How is it that boys always say 'ok' to whatever girls have to say? Can they stand something like this...
Boy: "Hey you! Do you know this cheap girl named ******?"
Sounds fowl right? The girl (whoever it is) may almost always support the girl in context here.
Girl: "Hey come on. You can't call her like that!" (and the conversation will go on, but the girl usually wins and that ****** is not cheap after all - PERIOD! END OF DISCUSSION!)

Someone once said on television (I think actor Parthiban) - "Female-ஆய் பிறப்பதே மேல்
May be true indeed!

Just for laughs! As always!
